Representative Mike Collins has reintroduced the Safe Passage on Interstates Act in Washington, D.C. The proposed legislation aims to make the intentional obstruction of interstate highways illegal.
Rep. Collins stated, "Activists and left-wing agitators are using our roadways as protest grounds, disrupting traffic, blocking emergency personnel, and endangering the lives of themselves and others. It is irresponsible and dangerous to cede control of interstate transportation to left-wing lunatics any longer." He further emphasized that "The Safe Passage on Interstates Act criminalizes these reckless acts and will make everyone who travels our highways safer."
Currently, some states have laws against blocking interstate highways, but there is no federal law addressing this issue. This act serves as a reintroduction of the House companion of S. 192, which did not advance in the U.S. Senate during the 118th Congress.
