A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Bleckley County Election Department on February 5, 2025. The request was made by Central Georgia News, a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.

In the interest of transparency and public accountability, we at Central Georgia News have requested records under the Georgia Open Records Act § 50.18.70 et seq. Specifically, we are seeking a list of all candidates running in the upcoming election.

The information requested includes the first, middle, and last names of each candidate, as well as the office they are running for and its jurisdiction. We have also asked for details regarding each candidate's party affiliation.

In addition to this basic information about each candidate, we have also requested their contact information. This includes their address, phone number, and email address.

As a media organization, access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional.

We look forward to receiving this important information from the Bleckley County Election Department so that we can continue our mission of keeping our readers informed about local government affairs.
