FOIA Request to Greene County Election Department Regarding Ballot Counting Methods on October 29, 2024.

In our continuous effort to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Central Georgia News have sent a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the Greene County Election Department in Georgia. The request, dated October 29, 2024, seeks detailed information about the methods they are using to count votes in the upcoming elections.

If the votes are being counted manually, we have also requested an estimated number of people who will be working on election night. This information is crucial as it gives insight into the manpower and resources dedicated to ensuring a fair and efficient counting process.

As a media organization committed to transparency and accountability in public institutions, we believe access to such public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. We also believe that we qualify for a fee waiver as a media professional given our role in disseminating this information to the public.

We await a response from the Greene County Election Department and will keep our readers updated with any developments.
