Representative Mike Collins (R-Ga.) will pay tribute to Jackson County Deputy Lena Marshall during National Police Week with a prayer vigil and flag laying ceremony. The event, hosted by Speaker Mike Johnson, aims to honor the fallen officer who was tragically killed in the line of duty.

Deputy Lena Marshall responded to a domestic disturbance call on November 5, 2021, in Hoschton, Georgia. Tragically, she was shot during the incident and succumbed to her injuries three days later at a local hospital.

"Our nation's law enforcement officers courageously risk their lives every time they don their uniforms," said Rep. Mike Collins. "It is my distinct privilege to lay an American flag in honor of Deputy Marshall, who gave the ultimate sacrifice in service to our Georgia communities."

The prayer vigil is scheduled for May 14, 2024, on the House Steps. This will be followed by a flag laying ceremony at the House Triangle in Washington, D.C., immediately after votes are cast. The flags will remain on display at the House Triangle throughout National Police Week.
