Weeks after returning home from the SkillsUSA National Conference in Atlanta with gold medals as national champions, Oconee Fall Line Technical College’s (OFTC) Opening and Closing Team was honored with a reception at the college.
“These students have set the bar high, and we are so proud of their commitment to the college and to one another,” said Dr. Saketha Adams, OFTC’s VP of Student Affairs.
Special remarks were made by OFTC President, Erica Harden, and Matt Hatchett, member of the Georgia House of Representatives.
Hatchett brought with him a resolution which he handed copies to each student, a portion of it stating:
“Whereas, it is abundantly fitting and proper to recognize the hard work, dedication, and talent of these students for their successes while representing Oconee Fall Line Technical College at the 2022 SkillsUSA competitions. Now, therefore, be it resolved that Oconee Fall Line Technical College Opening and Closing team members be commended upon the grand occasion of their gold winnings and extended best wishes for their future endeavors.”
Joshua Kight, Mayor of the City of Dublin, was also in attendance and congratulated the students on their success. “Future success builds on past success,” he said. “And now that you’ve been successful in this way, you can look forward to great things to come in your future.”
Members of OFTC’s SkillsUSA Opening and Closing Team were Antonio Bell (Laurens), Nicole Shenk (Johnson), Parker Fountain (Johnson), Bailey Creamer (Laurens), Josh Thomas (Laurens), and Chris Wilson (Laurens).
