The Oconee Fall Line Technical College (OFTC) Foundation hosted its eighth annual golf tournament Saturday, June 18 at Twin City Country Club in Tennille.
Seventeen teams consisting of 68 players participated in hopes of winning the coveted first place prize which was a round of golf for four at one of four courses at Reynolds at Lake Oconee in Greensboro. The tournament kicked off with a welcome from OFTC President Erica Harden, instructions from OFTC Trustee Allen Haywood, and a tee off at 9 am.
Participants played a four-man scramble of 18 holes, ate lunch, and received a bag filled with donated items from local businesses and industries.
First place winners and recipients of the Reynolds at Lake Oconee golf package were the American Tank Maintenance team of Jonathan Veal, Taylor Veal and Eric Wilkinson. Second place winners, who each received a $75 cash prize, were the team representing BH Transfer – Phil Smith, Tommy Cain, Ty Darsey and Jay English. Third place winners, each the recipient of a $50 cash prize, were the First State Bank team of Don Wren, Joey Kaney, Randy Tucker, and Dennis Holley.
“Congratulations to each of these teams,” shared Kathy Aaron, Executive Director of The OFTC Foundation. “It was great to watch the teams, some of whom have played in the tournament for 8 years, compete and have fun! The OFTC Foundation is extremely fortunate to hold events like this that have community support. It means so very much to the students we support!”
“The OFTC Foundation would like to thank everyone who supported this event, especially the golfers and sponsors,” she added. “Plans are already underway for next year’s event which we hope will be bigger and better!”
