Teasley Middle School issued the following announcement on Mar. 29.

Cherokee County School District students are advancing to State 4-H Competition, with two students elected to statewide leadership roles.

The 4-H extra-curricular program, sponsored locally by the UGA Cooperative Extension Office, offers students the opportunity to learn new skills, improve their teamwork and leadership skills and serve their community.

At the recent Northwest District 4-H Project Achievement competition, Teasley Middle School seventh-grader Lillianne Cline was elected to the District Junior Board of Directors and Woodstock High School sophomore Ella Perryman was elected to the Senior Board of Directors.  They will represent not only Cherokee, but also 38 other counties in their leadership roles.

“We’re so proud of all our students for their 4-H success -- we know that Lillianne and Ella will represent their community and region well,” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Brian V. Hightower said.  “We also wish our students the best as they advance to state 4-H competition and demonstrate their knowledge and skills.”

Three CCSD students qualified to attend State 4-H Congress this summer to compete against students from other districts for Master status in their project areas.  Cherokee HS junior Laney Cline earned first place in the Fashion Revue project area; River Ridge HS ninth-grader Landon Fay earned first place in Wildlife; and Creekview HS senior Christopher Markley earned second place in Festive Foods for Health.

Eight other CCSD students also placed at the regional event: second place, Lillianne Cline, Teasley MS, Crafts; Kiernan Lamp, Creekview HS, Performing Arts Instrumental; Teagan Lamp, Creekview HS, Dairy Foods; John Palmieri, Teasley MS, History; and third place, Lee Drawdy, Woodstock MS, Outdoor Recreation; Alex Helton, Sequoyah HS, Dairy Foods; Anna Knight, Etowah HS, Performing Arts Drama; McKenna Lamp, Creekland MS, Dairy Foods.
