County of Emanuel issued the following announcement on Sept. 16.
Construction of the new emergency operations center is officially underway! The emergency ops center will serve as a central command and control facility responsible for carrying out the principles of emergency preparedness and emergency management, or disaster management functions at a strategic level during an emergency. The concrete pad base was completed in late August and the framing of the exterior walls has now begun with an anticipated complete date forecasted for mid-December. We will continue to update the public as phases continue to be completed.
