Lower student enrollment in Treutlen County School District, following the state's trend

The only school district in Treutlen County faced declining enrollment in the 2022-23 school year, according to the Georgia Department of Education.

There were 943 students in the halls of Treutlen County School District, 4.8% less than the year before.

Enrollment in Treutlen County was steady compared to the state's trend of decreasing enrollment.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 50% of them were male, and 50% were female.

Data also showed that most of the students were white, representing 53% of the Treutlen County School District's total enrollment.

Treutlen County School District has a main office in Soperton and is the only school district within Treutlen County.

According to the Georgia Department of Education, over 1.6 million students were enrolled in Georgia's public schools during the 2021-22 school year. The state boasted a diverse and closely distributed student body across grade levels, with roughly 44% of the students in elementary, 24.5% in middle school, and 31.5% in high schools.

The state also registered an ethnically diverse student body, with 34.4% of the students identified as white, 36.5% as Black, 17.1% as Hispanic, and 4.5% as Asian.
