Monroe, GA – Representative Mike Collins (GA-10) has nominated 32 Georgia students as candidates for America's military service academies. These nominations are for the U.S. Military Academy (USMA), U.S. Naval Academy (USNA), U.S. Air Force Academy (USAFA), and U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA). These prestigious institutions prepare young Americans to become commissioned officers in the United States Armed Forces.
Representative Collins emphasized the importance of selecting the best and brightest candidates in today's global affairs. He stated, "I am proud to nominate these 32 young Georgians, who represent the finest that Georgia has to offer. They are each highly motivated, intelligent, physically fit individuals with strong moral character, who I am confident will progress well in the service academy appointment process. I look forward to seeing what the future holds for them as they aspire to lead in our United States Armed Forces."
The candidates were selected based on the recommendation of an independent academy advisory board. The nominees include Josh Adams, Michael Baker, Eli Bates, Ava Borah, Karina Caraballo, Colton Christensen, Lauren Davis, Angelo Hairston, William Harp, Isabella Harpold, Andrew Hawkins, Mason Honea, Corbyn Kennedy, Jae Kim, Savannah Koback, Jackson Lord, Hyte Martin, Jordan Matthews, Christopher Morgan, Abigayle Morton, Molly O'Brien, Ronan O'Brien, Noah Prior, Aidan Rainey, Michael Ricks, Caleb Rudisill, Abriell Shand-Pike, Rhys Small, Lexie Spencer, Nolan Stanfield, Tate Titshaw, and Cohen Tomlinson.
While securing a nomination is a required step in the application process, the final decision of admission rests with the academies. The selection process for U.S. service academies is highly competitive and rigorous. The candidates chosen for the Class of 2028 will begin their training at their respective academies in June 2024.
