Gov. Brian P. Kemp has announced Hwashin's plan to invest over $176 million in setting up a new manufacturing facility in Dublin, Ga. The project is expected to generate more than 460 jobs and contribute significantly to the state's automotive sector. This aligns with Georgia's strategy of attracting investments in its automotive industry to stimulate economic growth, according to Kemp.
"Gov. Kemp: Auto Parts Supplier Hwashin to Bring 460 Jobs to Middle Georgia", was the statement given.
"Our goal to become the e-mobility capital of the nation is bringing opportunity to communities all across the state. Hwashin is the latest to join our growing ecosystem of companies bringing good jobs to hardworking Georgians in this industry. I look forward to the impact this project will have on the Dublin community and Laurens County," Kemp said, according to a press release from the Governor's office.
According to the release, Hwashin is a Tier-1 automotive parts supplier that specializes in manufacturing chassis and body parts for organizations like Hyundai Motor Group, Kia, and international original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). Hwashin operates production facilities across various continents including Asia, South America and United States along with its global headquarters based in Korea. Their product range includes lightweight aluminum components and environmentally sustainable solutions. Worldwide, Hwashin employs over 4,200 individuals.
According to Seo Jin Jung, CEO of Hwashin who was quoted by Governor Kemp in his press release, "the company aspires to play a significant role in shaping a future global city focused on electric vehicles (EVs). They are excited about their alliance with Georgia and Laurens County; leveraging their 50-year expertise which aims at positioning the region at the forefront of automobile industry".
It was also stated by Governor Kemp's press release that late 2025 is when production at Hwashin's upcoming Georgia facility will commence. The production site is located at the Georgia Highway 257 Rail Served Site, which is recognized as the state's first-ever Georgia Ready for Accelerated Development (GRAD) Select site. This signifies that it has met rigorous certification standards. Manufacturing chassis components for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), including Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America and Kia Georgia, will be the facility's primary focus.
The press release quoted Dublin Mayor Joshua Kight as saying, "It is with great excitement that we welcome Hwashin as the seventh international company to call Dublin and Laurens County home. Today is a great example of the partnership and a demonstration of the ‘can-do attitude’ that exists between Laurens County, the City of Dublin, and the Dublin-Laurens County Development Authority. This project will change the landscape for Dublin-Laurens County, providing new career opportunities for area residents while developing increased and far-reaching opportunities in areas such as housing and retail development."
