The goal of the tours was to give educators an insight into the jobs in our community, including skills needed.
On Tuesday, February 21st, 2023, Middle school teachers and staff from both SMS and ECI spent the morning visiting industries in Emanuel County. Prior to heading out, they were treated to breakfast provided by Chick-fil-A of Vidalia.
The activity was organized as a joint effort between the Swainsboro-Emanuel County Chamber of Commerce and Development Authority and the Emanuel County School System. The goal of the tours was to give educators an insight into the jobs in our community, including skills needed. This will allow them first-hand knowledge they can share with their students. Industries included: Advanced Metal Components, AirStar Flight Support, America Knits, Crider Foods, Emanuel Medical Center, Faircloth Forest Products, HotSet, Stitch-N-Print, and WinCore.
Instructors and staff from Southern Technical College also attended the industry tours. They updated teachers on the programs provided by STC that would provide technical skills and training for the careers in each industry.
