City of Dublin Announces Moon as New Chief of Police

The City of Dublin, Georgia appointed Keith Moon as its new Police Chief effective September 15, 2022.

With almost 30 years of experience in law enforcement, acting Chief of Police Keith Moon began his career at the Telfair County Sheriff’s Department on January 1, 1993. He worked with the sheriff’s department for 5 years and left having earned the position of sergeant over the road patrol. Moon began his career with Dublin Police Department on February 6, 1998, as a patrolman. He was promoted to corporal and then sergeant while in the patrol division. Moon moved to the Criminal Investigations Division in 2008 to assist detectives in computer crimes and digital forensics where he was promoted to the rank of lieutenant on November 7, 2014. During the last few years, Moon has commanded the department tactical team and served as an instructor in the department while still assisting all divisions in case investigations.

“I’ve been very pleased with the work that has been done by Keith in the Police Department since he took over as acting chief last December.  It is obvious that he is the person for this job permanently.  He has the respect and support of his employees and the leaders and members of our partner agencies in law enforcement.  Keith’s focus has been on nothing but serving and protecting our community.  I’m excited for what the future holds for the department and our community as Keith continues in this capacity,” stated City Manager, Josh Powell.

Moon enjoys woodworking, hiking, and spending time with his family. His favorite part of his job is working closely with the community and his fellow teammates at the Dublin Police Department.
