Sen. Larry Walker Receives 2022 ACCG Legislative Service Award

Last week, Sen. Larry Walker (R – Perry) was announced as a recipient of a 2022 Legislative Service Award by The Association County Commissioners of Georgia (ACCG).

“Organizations like ACCG are critical in providing legislators with the knowledge and resources we need to make educated policy decisions on issues that could impact our counties,” said Sen. Walker. “I was proud to partner with and support ACCG on a number of issues this year and look forward to a continued partnership to ensure our local governments are well-supported.”

“The annual Legislative Service Awards program continues to underscore the appreciation for the dedicated members of the Georgia General Assembly,” said Executive Director Dave Wills. “This program also exemplifies the importance of state and local officials working together to best serve those who call our state home.”

Sen. Walker received the award due to his advocacy for legislation that advanced Georgia’s counties and, specifically, for working with ACCG on House Bill 1150 (The Freedom to Farm Act) and for serving as the Senate sponsor for ACCG’s bill to revise accounting practices to save tax payer dollars.

ACCG is Georgia’s county association and works on behalf of county officials and their communities by providing public policy and legislative advocacy, leadership development, civic and community engagement initiatives, insurance and retirement programs that specialize in local government needs and other cost-saving programs.  Formed in 1914 when county officials came together to help fund the state’s first highway department, ACCG today serves as a catalyst for advancing Georgia’s counties.  For more information, go to www.accg.org.
