Dublin-Laurens County Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on Feb. 14.
The Oconee Fall Line Technical College (OFTC) Foundation recently announced the creation of the Dr. Jaroy & Elysea Stuckey Dual Enrollment Scholarship which will be awarded annually to a graduating senior from Dublin High School who has enrolled in OFTC to continue their education after high school.
The scholarship is given in memory of the Stuckey’s, their son A.J., and unborn child who were killed in a tragic automobile accident March 14, 2021. Dr. Stuckey was the serving principal at Dublin High School and an avid supporter of OFTC’s Dual Enrollment program for many years. Elysea was a graduate of OFTC’s Cosmetology Program.
The purpose of this scholarship is to award financial assistance to a student from Dublin High School who participated in OFTC’s Dual Enrollment Program and has a true desire to complete a program of study at OFTC. Applicants must demonstrate an outstanding moral character and a determination (much like that of Dr. Stuckey) to succeed in life. The Dr. Jaroy Stuckey Scholarship is a $250 award along with a letter of congratulations. If selected the monetary stipend will be awarded to the student’s financial account at OFTC within the first 10 days of the start of classes. These funds can be applied to bookstore purchases or tuition and fees. No check will be written to the student.
Qualifying students must submit the following by April 15 prior to high school graduation: Completed OFTC Application; One personal reference from a high school teacher or OFTC instructor (form will be provided); Copy of high school transcript (unofficial); Copy of OFTC dual enrollment transcript (unofficial); Please submit all documents together in one package to the Executive Director of Institutional Advancement at 560 Pinehill Road, Dublin GA 31021.
