Oconee Fall Line Technical College issued the following announcement on Sept. 7.
Oconee Fall Line Technical College’s (OFTC) Transportation Center will move locations beginning January 2022. The college’s Commercial Truck Driving (CTD) and Safety Programs classes will be offered at a newly renovated facility across the street from the former Transpiration Center.
This new Transportation Center, which has been under construction since January 2021, previously served as the Washington County jail.
“The former Transportation Center located next to the Sandersville airport was a great facility for us to teach CTD classes,” shared Katie Davis, OFTC’s Vice President for Facilities and Maintenance. “But an opportunity presented itself for us to vacate this facility and acquire a new facility that would ultimately serve our needs better and provide more room for growth.”
The newly renovated center consists of classroom and office space for the college’s robust truck driving program, and Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) and other Safety Program courses offered through the College’s Business and Industry Services division.
Construction is scheduled to end this fall with classes beginning at the new location on January 10.
