GA US House District 10 issued the following announcement on Aug. 9.
Congressman Jody Hice (GA-10) recently presented the Hice Headliner Award for the month of August to Alice Williamson, an Oglethorpe County resident who is a proud Navy veteran, generous business owner, and director of the local Community Emergency Response Team (C.E.R.T).
“When the people of Oglethorpe County need a helping hand, they’re blessed to have Alice Williamson in their community,” said Congressman Hice. “Alice joined the Navy in 1973 where she was the first female Interior Communications Tech and first female assigned to the Fleet Maintenance and Assistance Group. Through her thrift store, A & B Emporium, she gladly provides clothing and household essentials to residents who experience a fire or other emergency. Alice is also a volunteer emergency medical responder who serves as director of the local Community Emergency Response Team, and she has a genuine passion for this organization. She has helped establish six local emergency shelters and trains volunteers in disaster preparedness. What’s more, she regularly volunteers at her church food bank. Thank you, Alice, for your giving spirit! There can be no doubt that you love both our community and country.”
Each month, Congressman Hice recognizes one outstanding local citizen who goes above and beyond to help their neighbors and strengthen our community. To nominate an outstanding individual, please send an email to Jessica.Hayes@mail.house.gov.
