County of Oconee issued the following announcement on July 26.
Oconee County Fire Rescue will offer an Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) course this fall beginning September 13, 2021. The course includes 84 hours of classroom instruction and practical assessment, followed by 36 hours of clinical ride-alongs with National EMS. Classes will be held Mondays and Thursdays from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. and will include two Saturday sessions on October 2 and October 30. Upon successful completion of the EMR course, participants will be eligible to volunteer as Emergency Medical Responders with Oconee County Fire Rescue.
The EMR course is open to Oconee County residents and requires no previous medical experience or training. The course is offered free of charge as a training opportunity for residents who would like to serve the county as Volunteer Emergency Medical Responders.
