There were 84 Hispanic students enrolled at Morgan County Elementary School in the 2024-25 school year—an 82.6% increase over the prior year, reports the Georgia Department of Education.

According to data, Morgan County Elementary School recorded a total enrollment of 847 students for 2024-25. With Hispanic students making up 10% of its population, this group ranked as the third largest at the school.

Located in Morgan County School District, the elementary school is overseen by a central office in Madison.

Out of the district’s four schools, Morgan County High School reported the highest number of Hispanic students—87—in the 2024-25 school year.

Georgia’s public schools enrolled more than 1.7 million students, according to the Georgia Department of Education’s Fiscal Year 2026-1 report. Elementary grades had the greatest enrollment at 787,206 (45.9%), followed by 388,733 middle school (22.7%) and 539,092 high school students (31.4%).

Georgia schools continue to confront high chronic absenteeism rates post-pandemic: 20.7% of students missed 10% or more school days in 2024, according to the Georgia Department of Education. To help improve daily attendance, GaDOE initiated a statewide program introducing a real-time attendance dashboard, a public awareness campaign, and support for high-need districts.

In 2025, state lawmakers updated school attendance laws to prohibit expulsion on the sole basis of absenteeism. The legislation also introduced additional reporting requirements and new diploma options through alternative programs.

Georgia’s student-to-teacher ratio stood at about 14:1 in 2026, better than the national average of 15:1.
