Central High School senior Mia Caldwell was awarded a memorial scholarship earlier today. The Retired Ladies of Central High School presented Mia with a check for $600 in honor of the late Lou Treadaway, a former Central High School English teacher.

Mia plans to become an English teacher. She was inspired by her 8th grade English teacher, Ms. Scarlett Gilland. When Mia was named Central High School’s STAR Student in December, she chose Ms. Gilland as her STAR Teacher.

Representing the Retired Ladies of Central High School are Ms. Nita Burns a former Family and Consumer Science teacher and Career Technology Agriculture Education (CTAE) Department Chair and Ms. Kathy Akers a former Special Education Coordinator and teacher.
