In the 2024-25 school year, 22 Hispanic students attended Treutlen Elementary School, marking a 37.5% increase from the prior year, reports from the Georgia Department of Education show.

Treutlen Elementary School reported a total enrollment of 442 for the 2024-25 school year. Hispanic students made up 5% of the student population, making them the school’s second-smallest demographic group.

Located in Treutlen County School District, Treutlen Elementary is overseen by its central office in Soperton.

Out of two schools within the Treutlen County School District, Treutlen Elementary recorded the highest number of Hispanic students for 2024-25, enrolling 22 Hispanic students.

Statewide, over 1.7 million students attended Georgia’s public schools, according to the Georgia Department of Education’s Fiscal Year 2026-1 report. Enrollment was largest in elementary grades at 787,206 students (45.9%), followed by 388,733 middle school students (22.7%), and 539,092 high school students (31.4%).

Chronic absenteeism continues to impact Georgia schools after the pandemic, with 20.7% of students missing 10% or more school days in 2024, according to the Georgia Department of Education. The GaDOE has introduced a statewide campaign including a real-time attendance dashboard, public awareness efforts, and targeted resources for districts most in need to raise daily attendance figures.

In 2025, a newly passed Georgia bill updated school attendance rules, prohibiting expulsion solely because of absenteeism. The legislation also imposes updated reporting requirements and aligns with new alternative diploma pathways.

By 2026, Georgia’s average student-to-teacher ratio was about 14:1, which was slightly above the national average of 15:1.
