Midway Hills Primary School counted 14 Hispanic students among its population in the 2024-25 school year, a decline of 22.2% compared to the prior year, the Georgia Department of Education reported.
Figures show total enrollment at Midway Hills Primary School reached 478 students in the 2024-25 school year. Of these, Hispanic students represented 3% of the population, remaining the smallest demographic at the school.
The school is within the Baldwin County School District, whose central office is in Milledgeville.
Baldwin High School had the largest number of Hispanic students among the district’s six schools in 2024-25, enrolling 61 Hispanic students.
Enrollment in Georgia public schools surpassed 1.7 million students, according to the Georgia Department of Education’s Fiscal Year 2026-1 report. The largest portion attended elementary school, which had 787,206 students (45.9%), followed by 388,733 in middle school (22.7%) and 539,092 in high school (31.4%).
Chronic absenteeism persists in Georgia schools following the pandemic, with 20.7% of students absent for at least 10% of school days in 2024, according to the Georgia Department of Education. In an effort to address this, GaDOE introduced a statewide initiative featuring a real-time attendance dashboard, public awareness campaign, and targeted support for high-need areas to encourage school attendance.
In 2025, Georgia legislators approved changes to school attendance laws to prohibit expulsion solely for absenteeism. The updates also require additional reporting and align with new pathways for students to earn diplomas through alternative means.
By 2026, Georgia averaged about 14 students per teacher, which is lower than the national average of 15 students per teacher.
