FOIA Request to Jasper County Election Department Regarding Information on Upcoming Election Candidates on February 5, 2025.

In a bid to ensure transparency and accountability in the upcoming elections, we at Central Georgia News have submitted a request under the Georgia Open Records Act § 50.18.70 et seq. The request was sent to the Jasper County Election Department and seeks comprehensive information about all candidates running in the upcoming election.

The details requested include the first, middle, and last names of each candidate, as well as the office they are running for and its jurisdiction. We also asked for the party affiliation of each candidate.

In addition to these basic details, we have also requested contact information for each candidate. This includes their address, phone number, and email address.

As a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, access to public records is essential for us at Central Georgia News. It allows us to fulfill our professional responsibilities which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
