FOIA Request to Dodge County Election Department Regarding Ballot Counting Methods on October 29, 2024.

As part of our ongoing commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Central Georgia News have sent a request under the Georgia Open Records Act § 50.18.70 et seq., to the Dodge County Election Department.

Our request specifically seeks information about the methods being used by the department to count votes in the upcoming election. If the counting process is manual, we have also asked for an estimated number of people who will be working on election night.

We believe that access to such public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities, which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. As a media organization involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we consider ourselves eligible for a fee waiver as per media professional standards.

We look forward to hearing from the Dodge County Election Department and will continue to keep our readers informed about all developments related to this matter.
