In the 2024-25 school year, Dodge County Middle School’s enrollment included 29 multiracial students, an increase of 26.1% over the prior year, reports from the Georgia Department of Education indicate.

Overall, the school had 595 students enrolled for 2024-25. Multiracial students constituted 5% of the total student population, making them the second-smallest group at the school.

The school is part of the Dodge County School District and is administered from the district’s central office in Eastman.

Of the three schools within the Dodge County School District, Dodge County High School reported the largest number of enrolled multiracial students for 2024-25, with 31 students.

Georgia’s public schools enrolled more than 1.7 million students, according to the Georgia Department of Education’s Fiscal Year 2026-1 report. Enrollment numbers were highest at the elementary level with 787,206 students (45.9%), followed by middle schools with 388,733 students (22.7%), and high schools with 539,092 students (31.4%).

Chronic absenteeism continues to pose a significant challenge in Georgia schools in the period after the pandemic, with 20.7% of students missing at least 10% of school days in 2024, according to the Georgia Department of Education. To address the issue, the GaDOE launched a statewide effort featuring a real-time attendance dashboard, a public awareness campaign, and special support initiatives for districts with high needs.

In 2025, state lawmakers in Georgia approved legislation amending school attendance laws to prohibit expulsion solely for absenteeism. The new law also introduces additional reporting requirements and aligns with diploma pathway programs for students seeking alternative graduation options.

As of 2026, the average student-teacher ratio in Georgia stood at roughly 14:1, which compares favorably to the national average of 15:1.
