The Dodge County Achievement Center (DAC) enrolled 19 white students for the 2024-25 academic year, an increase of 35.7% from the prior year, reports the Georgia Department of Education.
Total enrollment at DAC reached 46 students in 2024-25. White students accounted for 43% of the student body, making them the largest demographic group at the school.
DAC operates within the Dodge County School District, headquartered in Eastman.
Among the district’s three schools, Dodge County High School reported the highest white enrollment in 2024-25 with 436 students.
Enrollment in Georgia public schools exceeded 1.7 million students, according to the Department’s Fiscal Year 2026-1 report. Elementary grades had the largest share with 787,206 students (45.9%), followed by high school at 539,092 (31.4%), and middle school at 388,733 (22.7%).
Chronic absenteeism remains a significant challenge for Georgia schools after the pandemic, with 20.7% of students absent 10% or more of days in 2024, according to the Georgia Department of Education. To address this, the state launched an initiative that includes a real-time attendance dashboard, public awareness efforts, and targeted support for districts with high needs.
In 2025, new legislation updated Georgia’s school attendance laws, banning expulsions based solely on absenteeism, adding new reporting standards, and aligning with alternative diploma completion programs.
By 2026, Georgia’s student-to-teacher ratio was approximately 14:1, surpassing the national average of 15:1.
